An Invitation: How Do You Last?

Members of the I-Go Car Sharing program are invited to participate in The Lasting #2: A Shoeflower, a project initiated by local artists Mark Jeffery and Judd Morrissey in collaboration with I-GO cars and Art 44/46, an annual public art festival that takes place throughout the Lakeview area. The project, which examines notions of sustainability through meanings and interpretations of the word 'last', will be partially created from writing contributed by you and other members of the I-GO car sharing community.

A log book has been placed in five I-Go vehicles for the creative use of the drivers and passengers. Drivers of I-GO cars without log books can email writing to Deborah Ackles. Please take a few minutes to leave a trace as your thoughts are essential to the project.

The artists have proposed the following specific question for you to consider in your log book or email responses:

How do you last?

An entry should include the following information:

* date & time
* response to "how do you last?"
* any additional thoughts & landmarks
* your name (if you want to be credited as a contributor)

The log book will be collected on October 5, 2007 after two weeks of use. The responses will then be compiled and arranged in a circuitous visual text pattern that will be printed on vinyl and mapped onto the body of an I-GO car. The pattern’s shape will be determined by GPS data collected over the two-week period from one I-GO car in the Lakeview area to create a 14-day travel route.
